18F offers a leg up to state and local government

State and local governments will soon be able to tap the expertise of the General Services Administration’s 18F digital services group.  By partnering with federal agencies that give grants to state and local programs, 18F’s new State and Local Government Practice will provide consulting and acquisition services focusing on human-centered, agile and modular design.

This expansion stems from 18F’s successful pilot project last year to upgrade and overhaul the California’s legacy Child Welfare System.

Working with the Department of Health and Human Services, Code for America and the California Department of Social Services, 18F formulated a series of smaller contracts with quicker turnarounds for the system rebuild, rather than a awarding a single vendor a contract to deliver and build the $400 million project.
