SUMMARY:Cyber Friday: Information Security - Security Beyond Cyber
DESCRIPTION:Today\, companies deal with emails\, prints\, models\, algorithms\, computer code\, and more. Employees meet\, discuss and converse about opportunities and projects. For companies in the defense space\, much of the information that they work with is sensitive or controlled unclassified information (CUI). No matter the medium\, this type of information needs to be safeguarded and protected from unauthorized disclosure\, inadvertent sharing\, or outright theft. Some companies state that they have full development systems which are “air tight.” Others\, who have been awarded a DOD contract have a rudimentary system in place. This webinar will provide a broad overview of information security\, DOD requirements\, references and resources to use. \n  \nSpeaker: Marc Violante\, Wisconsin Procurement Institute \n  \nThis webinar is eligible for 1 CPE credit. \nView a schedule of all upcoming Cyber Friday webinars. \n\n

SUMMARY:Acquisition Hour: Market Research - Successful Contractors Do Their Homework
DESCRIPTION:Successful contractors do their homework – or their market research. They determine who at the agency is buying\, how they are buying\, when they will be buying\, how much they have procured in the past\, what they are currently buying and what they will be buying in the future. They also know who are the current contract holders and who are their competitors. \nThis workshop will teach you how to do your own government market research using various online tools that are available to you at no cost. \nWho should attend: Any business determining if the government market is a good fit for their business\, or businesses that want to learn how to better focus their government market efforts. \n  \nSpeaker: Kim Garber\, Director-Small Business Programs\, Wisconsin Procurement Institute \nThis webinar is eligible for 1 CPE credit \nTo view a schedule of all upcoming webinars\, CLICK HERE. \n\n

SUMMARY:Cyber Friday: Design and use of Exercises to test and strengthen your security plans and procedures
DESCRIPTION:Cybersecurity plans and processes will often have limitations and are not absolute in their ability to protect. If a cyber incident occurs\, are you ready? Do key players know their roles\, their authority and required actions? Are external resources such as your Managed Services provider\, IT consultant or legal counsel familiar with the company and all of the relevant processes\, policies\, staff\, and equipment? When the network ceases to function\, it is too late! You are behind the proverbial “eight ball” and likely in for a very difficult recovery. This webinar will explore the value of exercises in not only strengthening your cybersecurity plans but also in developing response capabilities to minimize the impact of a cyber incident and ease the efforts needed to return to normal operations. \n  \nSpeaker: Marc Violante\, Wisconsin Procurement Institute \n  \nThis webinar is eligible for 1 CPE credit. \nView a schedule of all upcoming Cyber Friday webinars. \n\n

SUMMARY:Cyber Friday: Ransomware
DESCRIPTION:Discover the practical steps that can be used to combat Ransomware. Ransomware has become a major threat to all businesses not only from an operational perspective but also as the regulatory landscape continues to evolve with respect to payments and reporting of cybersecurity incidents. An unintended mouse click can wreak havoc. There is no outrunning it. In a blink\, it will devastate your network. Both computers and the network become effectively useless. This webinar will review NIST’s Tips and Tactics for protection against Ransomware as well as provide an update on current and pending regulations and legislation. \n  \nSpeaker: Marc Violante\, Wisconsin Procurement Institute \n  \nThis webinar is eligible for 1 CPE credit. \nView a schedule of all upcoming Cyber Friday webinars. \n\n

SUMMARY:Cyber Friday: Cybersecurity Information - tools\, resources and keeping current
DESCRIPTION:The need for a dynamic Cybersecurity program has never been greater. Cyber threats continue to change and evolve to take advantage of unpatched systems\, outdated software\, lack of staff training\, and other weaknesses.  Adversaries are highly motivated to evolve and to succeed. As a result\, a static cyber program without active involvement and a mechanism for updates is destined to fail at some point – Then What? Without a doubt\, the imperative is to stay current\, keep abreast of the threats\, monitor network activity\, and have a process to validate and make needed changes expeditiously and fully. The looming question is\, How? This webinar will explore some tips\, tricks\, tools and resources that will help with this considerable challenge. \n  \nSpeaker: Marc Violante\, Wisconsin Procurement Institute \n  \nThis webinar is eligible for 1 CPE credit. \nView a schedule of all upcoming Cyber Friday webinars. \n\n

SUMMARY:Cyber Friday: Understanding the Cloud
DESCRIPTION:The term Cloud has almost become synonymous with the terms computer or internet. On one level\, all the term cloud means is storing data on someone else’s computer. When that is done\, their security capabilities and weaknesses also become yours. The real question is\, why should a company move to the cloud and\, if they do\, what type of cloud should be used? After all\, there are public clouds\, private clouds\, community clouds\, and hybrid clouds to be considered. In addition to these deployment models\, there are service models and various characteristics that should also be considered. Lastly\, and especially for DOD contractors\, understanding the provider’s security capabilities and whether the Cloud Provider’s security offerings satisfy customer security requirements is just one of many questions that need to be asked. This is of paramount importance. Additionally\, cloud users will need to determine what security measures will be provided by the cloud service and which measures will be the responsibility of the company and therefore will need to be configured\, monitored and managed by the company. This webinar will explore these essential elements of cloud computing as well as considerations that should be analyzed when exploring a move to the cloud. \n  \nSpeaker: Marc Violante\, Wisconsin Procurement Institute \n  \nThis webinar is eligible for 1 CPE credit. \nView a schedule of all upcoming Cyber Friday webinars. \n\n

SUMMARY:Acquisition Hour: Preparing to Meet with a Government Buyer – The Elevator Pitch
DESCRIPTION:Opportunities are coming up for small businesses to meet with Government Agencies and their Prime Contractors.  To take full advantage of these opportunities\, you must do your homework and be prepared. In preparation\, a business must have done their market research on the buyer / prime\, determine the value or solution that their business can provide to the buyer / prime\, have prepared a capabilities statement\, and have prepared an ELEVATOR PITCH. \nIn this session we will focus on the ELEVATOR PITCH. An elevator pitch is a short presentation that explains your business in less than a minute. This type of pitch is designed as a quick introduction to your business explaining who you are\, what you do and how your business stands out among other contractors. \nJoin Kim Garber and Mark Dennis from WPI for a discussion on how to prepare a GREAT PITCH. If you are Marketplace Wisconsin and would like assistance in preparing for meetings at this event\, contact Kim Garber at kimg@wispro.org. \n  \nSpeakers: \n\nKim Garber\, Manager-Small Business Programs\, Wisconsin Procurement Institute\nMark Dennis\, Government Contract Specialist\, Wisconsin Procurement Institute\n\n\n

SUMMARY:Cyber Friday: Understanding Zero Trust
DESCRIPTION:Who is logged into your network or using a company resource? You can tell which User IDs and Passwords are being used but who – which person – is using them? Is it the assigned user\, a colleague who borrowed the credentials\, a team member of a shared account\, or did someone obtain the credentials illicitly. There is only one correct answer – “the assigned user.” This webinar will explore the ideas behind a Zero Trust Security paradigm and how these principles can assist companies to better protect their assets by not just providing access to information based upon the entry of a User ID and password\, but by instituting a paradigm that requires validation to ensure that only the authorized user of those credentials is using them. \nSpeaker: Marc Violante\, Wisconsin Procurement Institute \n  \nThis webinar is eligible for 1 CPE credit. \nView a schedule of all upcoming Cyber Friday webinars. \n\n
