SUMMARY:Acquisition Hour: Learning about the Surety Bond Guarantee from the U.S. SBA
DESCRIPTION:Failure to provide required contract bonds can result in an offeror being excluded from competition or a contractor being terminated for default! \nRequired contract bonds often include Bid Bonds\, Performance Bonds\, and Payment Bonds. The Federal Government will require that offerors provide Bid Bonds for any contract that requires Performance and Payment Bonds. Performance and Payment Bonds are generally required for federal construction contracts that exceed $150\,000. In addition\, Payment Bonds may be needed for federal construction contracts between $35\,000 and $150\,000. \nUnfortunately\, small businesses sometimes have a difficult time qualifying for\, and obtaining\, such bonds in the standard marketplace. Join us in this webinar and learn about the Small Business Administration’s (SBA) Surety Bond Guarantee Program and how the SBA can help you obtain the needed contract bonds at reasonable prices\, terms\, and conditions. \nSpeakers: \n\nTamara Murray\, Underwriting Marketing Specialist\, Small Business Administration (SBA)\, Office of Surety Guarantees\nBenjamin Blanc\, Government Contract Specialist\, Wisconsin Procurement Institute\n\n  \nThis webinar is eligible for 1 CPE credit. \nView a schedule of all upcoming Acquisition Hour webinars. \n

SUMMARY:Acquisition Hour: Intellectual Property for Government Contractors & Subcontractors & the STTR/SBIR Stakeholder
DESCRIPTION:When doing business with the Federal Government\, you (the contractor) may encounter situations where the government is entitled to receive intellectual property rights. The scope of government rights in a contractor’s intellectual property depends primarily on the type of intellectual property at issue\, specifically\, whether the intellectual property is a patent or patentable intellectual property\, copyrighted material\, or rights in technical data or computer software. \nSmall businesses participating in the SBIR/STTR programs encounter those different types of IP and should have a good understanding of the rights to which the government may be entitled. For small businesses participating in the SBIR/STTR program it is important to understand Intellectual Property (IP) ‐ Patents\, Trade Secrets\, Trademarks\, and Copyrights. \nCompanies should not shy away from business opportunities with the government out of fear they will lose valuable intellectual property rights. However\, it is critical that a company seeking to do business with the government\, either as a prime or subcontractor\, understands its intellectual property rights. \nThis webinar will help you understand the many differences in property rights and help you ensure that you are only providing the government with what is strictly necessary. \nSpeakers: \n\nLaura Grebe\, Partner\, Husch Blackwell\nBenjamin Blanc\, Government Contract Specialist\, Wisconsin Procurement Institute\n\n  \nThis webinar is eligible for 1 CPE credit. \nView a schedule of all upcoming Acquisition Hour webinars. \n

SUMMARY:Acquisition Hour: Responding to Sources Sought Request and Preparing Your Capabilities Statement
DESCRIPTION:  \nA Sources Sought notice is a market research tool that Contracting Officers use to determine the availability of specific capabilities in the marketplace.  Sources Sought are also used to determine if there are enough qualified small businesses able to perform to potentially set aside the specific requirement.  These Sources Sought are posted in beta.SAM.gov and provide businesses a significant opportunity to present their qualifications and capabilities to support a specific requirement. \nAlong with Sources Sought\, this session will discuss developing a targeted Capabilities Statement to address specific needs in the government. \nWell prepared responses to a Sources Sought or development of a focused Capabilities Statement are critical to successful review by the Government agency – especially in our current dynamic contracting environment. \nThis webinar will cover: \n\nWhat are Sources Sought Notices (SSNs) and Requests for Information ((RFIs)\nLocating SSNs and RFIs\nPreparing a focused response to SSNs and RFIs\nHow to develop a targeted and effective Capability Statement\n\nSpeakers: \n\nHelen Henningsen\, Wisconsin Procurement Institute\nMark Dennis\, Wisconsin Procurement Institute\n\nThis webinar is eligible for 1 CPE credit. \nView a schedule of all upcoming Acquisition Hour webinars. \n

SUMMARY:Cyber Friday: Preparing for a CMMC Certification assessment
DESCRIPTION:  \nAs the CMMC program evolves and matures\, there will certainly be more information available that specifically addresses this topic. Even though there is currently no formal guidance\, there is considerable information that can be gleaned from the program goals\, requirements and resources. Given program guidance\, it is obvious that the assessment will look beyond documents\, policies and various logs. These records will be very important\, but it is also important to recognize that the company in its entirety will be under review as well. This webinar will explore the general nature of formal assessments to help provide context to better understand the process which will assist in making appropriate preparations. \n  \nSpeaker: Marc Violante\, Wisconsin Procurement Institute \n  \nThis webinar is eligible for 1 CPE credit. \nView a schedule of all upcoming Cyber Friday webinars. \n
