Onsite Registration will also be available. \nJoin us on October 13\, 11:00 AM at the Hilton Garden Inn Lake Forest Mettawa as we begin SAME’s LMP Technical Series with Part 1 – Clean Water. \nSpeakers and Topics: \nSpeaker 1: Our first guest speaker will be Bill Soucie\, who will be presenting “Emerging Micropollutants in Water – A Large Public Water Supply Perspective.” Bill is the Executive Director of the Central Lake County Joint Action Water Agency located in Lake Bluff\, IL where he started in 1995 as the Laboratory Supervisor. Bill has a Masters degree in Chemistry from Loyola Chicago and is a licensed Illinois Class A Water Supply Operator.  The Central Lake County Joint Action Water Agency (CLCJAWA) is a modern 50 MGD Lake Michigan water treatment facility in Lake Bluff\, IL using ozone\, biologically active carbon filtration and UV disinfection serving 265\,000 people in 13 Lake County communities. A challenge facing water purveyors are emerging contaminants of concern including PFAs. \nSpeaker 2: Our second guest speaker will be William Dichtel. William is the Robert L. Letsinger Professor of Chemistry at Northwestern University. His presentation will be “Forever Chemicals No More? PFAS Are Destroyed With New Technique.” William’s work was recently published in the journal Science. Suppliers must also be aware of requirements included by references such as DLA’s Master Solicitation and clauses listed in both the Federal Acquisition Regulations (FAR) and Defense Federal Acquisition Regulations Supplement (DFARS).
