U.P. company gets statewide award
KINGSFORD — A U.P. based company is getting special recognition from the state of Michigan.
The Oldenburg Group makes parts for ships for the U.S. Navy and Coast Guard. The company has facilities in Iron River, Ontonagon, and Rhinelander, Wisconsin.
It was recently nominated by the Procurement Technical Assistance Center (PTAC) to get the Michigan Small Business Government Contractor’s Award. Oldenburg will be honored at a special ceremony on May 7 in Lansing.
“Being a U.P. company, we were really honored to win the statewide Michigan award,” said Steve Thiry, proposal manager at Oldenburg Group. “To win against a lot of the companies down in the Detroit to Warren areas, we’re very proud of that.”
