WEDC’s Seyoum Mengesha Cultivates Businesses and Entrepreneurs Statewide
By Sean Ryan – Reporter, Milwaukee Business Journal – Through his career in business development, he’s helped thousands of minority business owners make it in Wisconsin through loan programs and other support. There’s a Hispanic woman who was a senior home assistant for years, and then launched her own senior homes with her son. There’s the grocery store owner whose children he’s seen born, raised and then running the cash register. In several years of attending a statewide conference for minority-owned businesses seeking state contracts, he’s seen startups grow into award winners. “I see people improving, families getting supported,” Mengesha said. “You see change. That brings joy to me.”
