Cyber Thursday:  Summarizing NIST SP 800-171 Revision 3 in support of GSA and FAR, and future Government Compliance

NIST SP 800-171 Revision 3 is quickly becoming the benchmark for protecting Controlled Unclassified Information (CUI). This session provides a practical summary of Revision 3, highlighting how it is structured, what changed from Revision 2, and what the new organization-defined parameters mean for contractors building or updating their security programs. We will examine how GSA has adopted Revision 3 in its CUI guidance and how the proposed FAR CUI Rule points to it as the baseline for contractors across all federal agencies. Attendees will also learn why defense contractors currently operating under Revision 2 should pay close attention, and how to position their compliance efforts for a government-wide standard.
