In Federal contracting, being a small business has its benefits.  Many contractors intentionally make sure that their business qualifies as small in order to qualify for set aside contracts, qualify for US SBA small business programs, participation in the SBIR/STTR program, as well as preferred financing, accelerated payment and other benefits.

To be considered small, concerns must meet a particular size standard that corresponds to a six-digit North American Industrial Classification System (NAICS) code. Each size standard is stated in terms of either receipts or number of employees of the firm and ALL OF ITS DOMESTIC and FOREIGN AFFILIATES.

So is YOUR BUSINESS REALLY SMALL?  In this session we will discuss:

  • How do family owned business relationships impact size
  • How are employees and revenue actually counted
