Acquisition Hour: Cyber Security for Current and Prospective DOD Contractors and Subcontractors : Requirements, actions and planning for the end of year compliance deadline
Full compliance with DoD Cyber requirements, DFARS 252.204-7012, is required by no later than December 31, 2017 – 53 Days from the date of this November 8th Webinar!
A few of the key terms and ideas that all companies involved in DoD contracts as either a prime contractor, subcontractor or prospective contractor should be fully aware of and knowledgeable of the related requirements and references as they apply to your cyber security efforts include:
- Adequate Security
- NIST(SP) 800-171
- Controlled Unclassified Information
- Distribution Statements
- Medium Assurance Certificate
- Forensic Analysis
- 72 hours
Today, Cyber Security has grown to be a key concept in federal acquisition and specifically in DoD acquisitions. DoD’s Better Buying Power 3.0 includes a requirement to “strengthen cybersecurity throughout the product lifecycle.” Program Managers are required to design cyber requirements into technical requirements, and cyber is also being included in solicitations.
Compliance is more than installing anti-virus software, changing passwords or conducting a review; it is literally a 24 x 7 effort that includes all staff. It begins at the highest levels in the company, and definitely involves the IT staff (1 or more) and includes all users of computers and networks. Compliance also extends to suppliers and contractors. For users of Cloud Services there are special requirements and for companies whose work involves International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) related efforts, there are important linkages between ITAR compliance and Cyber compliance.
This webinar will provide companies with a solid overview of key references, requirements and resources needed to be used in developing and implementing a cyber security program and be prepared for the December 31 deadline.
