McCook Reservoir Tour

SAME Chicago and Lake Michigan Posts invite you to our July 15, 2015 joint meeting, scheduled as a tour of McCook Reservoir in Willow Springs, IL.

• This tour is scheduled as a result of the high interest of members at the SAME LMP May meeting with Mariyana Spyropoulis, MWRD President.
• The 90-minute tour will begin at 10am, meeting at the LASMA Visitor Center (map attached).
• Following the tour, we will grab lunch at Buck’s Pit Stop nearby (optional).
• There is no cost for the tour, however, the group size is limited to 25, and all participants are required to sign the attached release waiver and provide a scanned copy of a Government-issued ID, for security purposes.

Both the waiver and the ID should accompany your response to Joe Smetak, josephs@wispro.org by July 8, 2015, as required by MWRD Public Affairs office.

The McCook Reservoir is currently under construction and, when completed, the reservoir will have a total capacity of 10 BG.  Phase 1 of the reservoir is planned to be completed by 2017.  The McCook Reservoir will provide over $90 million per year in flood damage reduction benefits to 3.1 million people in 37 communities.  Additional information about the Tunnel and Reservoir Plan (TARP), is provided in the attached fact sheet.
