Guest presenter: Jean Thiel, President, Belonger Corporation
Jean Marie Thiel, Founder and President, Belonger Corporation: She started her mechanical contracting business in her basement with one employee and four customers. Nine years later, Belonger Corporation is Wisconsin’s only woman-owned and American Indian-owned mechanical contracting company employing over 50 employees. Ms. Thiel serves on the American Indian Chamber of Commerce of Wisconsin and the Wisconsin Procurement Institute as well as the winner of the MMAC Future 50 Award, Wisconsin’s Minority Business of the Year Award, US SBA’s Regional Minority Business of the Year, Women of Influence Award and Wisconsin Department of Commerce’s Outstanding Minority Business of the Year.
Belonger Corporation is a complete mechanical contractor in the specialty trades industry, providing H.V.A.C./R. commercial and industrial applications. Belonger offers complete installation and service of boilers, furnaces, air handling equipment, rooftops, pneumatics and electronic controls, air conditioning, refrigeration, chillers, and process equipment. Belonger also offers Sheet Metal and Steamfitting capabilities as well as subcontractor relationships with asbestos removal and certified pressure vessel welding. Belonger’s business ideologies are logical with innovative management and execution. “TQM” (Total Quality Management) compliments Belonger’s key service issues – quality, cost-efficient service, enhanced with added value customer service.
How did she grow her business? She did it by hard work, persistence, learning and understanding the rules and TEAMING AND PARTTNERING. Belonger performs work throughout the country and has started doing some projects overseas.

You are invited to join the Wisconsin Procurement Institute the first and third Tuesday of every month to network and learn about a range of topics related to government contracting and small business. These workshops are designed for businesses looking to enter or expand their presence in the government market – federal, state and local. Each session will offer a topic related to government contracting with current and relevant information for your business to better position itself in the government market.
