Acquisition Hour: Update on the Fair Labor Standards Act

The Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) establishes minimum wage, overtime pay, record keeping, and child labor standards affecting full-time and part-time workers in the private sector and in Federal, State, and local governments. The Department of Labor administers and enforces the FLSA. Having a compliant time keeping system is critical to any contractor.
This session will provide attendees with an overview of the requirements of the ACT to assist employers in maintaining compliance.

- The difference between an ‘employee’ and an ‘independent contractor’
- Exemption from overtime
- Payment of meal breaks
- Payment of travel time
- Other issues impacting record keeping and payment
