Locating DOD & Federal Opportunities

Businesses have two primary resources for locating contract opportunities with the Department of Defense and federal government. The first is SAM.gov. The second is the Wisconsin Procurement Institute’s (WPI) no-cost bid matching service.

SAM.gov

The System for Award Management (SAM.gov) is an official website of the U.S. Government. Not only is SAM.gov registration required for all businesses that want to do work with the U.S. Government, it is also the website where all contract opportunities greater than $25,000 are posted for public access. These postings include synopses of proposed contract actions, solicitations, and associated information.

SAM.gov offers several ways to search for contract opportunities. Users can filter opportunities by federal organizations, DoDAAC, NAICS or PSC codes, location, set-aside type, and others. For detailed information about using SAM.gov for locating opportunities, WPI offers training in both a webinar and one-on-one format.

Bid Matching through WPI

Bid matching is a no-cost service that locates publicly posted government contract opportunities [DOD, federal, state and local] and sends you a daily email with a link to each opportunity. This eliminates the need for you to monitor procurement sites. For a list of procurement sites included in the bid matching, click here. Emails are received daily unless no hits are found using your search parameters. Parameters for the bid match search can include your company’s NAICS or PSC codes or keywords. If you do not know which NAICS or PSC codes or keywords are the best fit for your company, WPI’s counselors can help.

Bid matching is set up during a one-on-one counseling session with a WPI counselor. Please anticipate a few business days as you tailor the NAICS or PSC codes or keyword search parameters until you receive the specific results you want.

If you have questions about or need assistance with information on this webpage, WPI staff is available to assist. If you are a returning client, contact your counselor directly. If you are a new client, please register by clicking here. If you are unsure whether you are a returning or new client, call 414-270-3600 to speak with a WPI staff member.
