Federal Market Insights [FMI]: Unsolicited Proposals & NSF Project Pitches: Paths Beyond SBIR Topics

FEDERAL MARKET INSIGHTS [FMI] is an informal podcast designed to provide valuable information about the government marketplace for businesses interested in government contracting. SBIR and STTRs topics are defined by a potential federal customer. The topics are areas in which they have an interest. What if you have an idea but do not see a topic? One path to consider may be to submit an Unsolicited Proposal (FAR 15.6). Another option which is associated with the SBIR/STTR program is to submit a Project Pitch to the National Science Foundation (NSF). We’ll discuss the Project Pitch framework, requirements, limitations and next steps required for Pitches that are accepted.
